Xiaomi Auto explained that VGT stands for “Vision Gran Turismo,” a global virtual concept car collaboration initiated by Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo series. The project invites world-leading automakers to bypass the constraints of current technology and materials to design “ultimate dream cars” focused on the future of the driving experience.

According to the announcement, Xiaomi’s involvement began at last year’s GT World Series in London, where Kazunori Yamauchi personally invited Xiaomi to collaborate on its own Vision Gran Turismo concept. This invitation marks a milestone for Chinese automotive design on the global stage.

Addressing the highly anticipated topic of commercial availability, Xiaomi Auto explicitly stated that the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo will not be mass-produced in the future. The company emphasized that the concept car represents a deep exploration into innovative design beyond its core hardware technology. It aligns with the VGT project’s mission to break the boundaries of real-world engineering and craftsmanship to imagine the ultimate driving machine.

Xiaomi Auto noted that, compared to other classic VGT models, the Xiaomi Vision GT is unique for its tech-centric design philosophy. While pushing the limits of aerodynamics and ignoring physical constraints, the car incorporates the team’s vision for future human-vehicle relationships within the context of electrification and intelligence.

Regarding exhibition plans, Xiaomi Auto revealed that the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo will make its public debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, from March 2 to 5, 2026. For domestic fans in China, the company is currently planning subsequent local exhibition events, with details to be released through official channels.

As for when the car will be playable in the Gran Turismo game, Xiaomi Auto stated that development and integration are currently underway in collaboration with the Gran Turismo team. It will still take some time before the official launch, and further progress will be announced as it becomes available.
